Brains and BrawnThe contacts in your eyes were starting to make your eyes water, but you didn’t even as much as blink. The wide screen before you showed the lazily rotating view of whatever planet, whatever solar system. It didn’t really matter. The important thing was the tiny little screen superimposed over some mostly brown continent, and filled with the face of a scowling green blood. Her mouth moved, the scowl never leaving, and at your ankle a smooth and deceptively dry tentacle tightened. You cocked your eyebrow and raised your chin in acceptance, and then lowered your steepled fingers as if to type. The green blood‘s scowl deepened as she read whatever response had been sent to her, and you mentally noted that if you really were the blue blood you were posing as, you would probably have her culled for that alone. But you weren’t a blue blood, and the tentacle was uncurling from your leg, so you closed the view screen and sank your forehead into your arms on top of the d

I just love long pieces with gradients like that. As you scroll the background gradually changes and becomes something else. For a static image it's just magical.
